AT&T LTE speed testing in San Francisco Bay Area

AT&T made it's LTE service official last week in 11 new markets, two of which are in the San Francisco area.  I just got my hands on a AT&T LTE powered tablet to do some network speed tests, and to be honest, I'm in love. I will continue to do more testing, but the speed is frankly amazing, and over twice as fast as my speedtest.net results using my home AT&T DSL.

Nokia CEO Stephen Elop came out on stage to announce their newest WP7 phone, even before it's Lumia 800 has hit the U.S market.  The Lumia 900 is the first Nokia phone with an LTE antenna, and it will be an AT&T exclusive device.  The Lumia 900 is almost exactly the same as the Lumia 800, but with a few important changes.

Verizon finally officially announces the Motorola Droid 4

Motorola and Verizon just issued a press release announcing the Motorola Droid 4.  The Droid 4 will run on Verizon's LTE network, and feature a five row QWERTY keyboard.  It also holds the title for the thinnest LTE QWERTY phone.  The keyboard is said to have edge lit keys, but without having the device in my hands I can't say for sure just what that means compared to normally lit keyboards.  We have been seeing leaks and rumors for this phone for months, and it is great to see if finally be made official.

Toshiba shows off a Glasses free 55 inch 3D TV

At a Toshiba event held prior to the start of CES the company showed off a 55inch glasses free 3D TV.  The truely amazing part of this TV is that if features glasses free TV for up to nine people, but is optomized for three or four.  That means that this TV has a hidden camera that tracks the faces of the people watching, and adjusts each person's picture based on where they are standing.

Lenovo IdeaTab S2 10-inch Android Ice Cream Sandwich tablet

Even more Lenovo news coming out of CES even before the event officially begins.  This is the Lenovo IdeaTab S2, which is a fancy name for a 10 inch Android tablet.  The reason this tablet caught my eye is the fact that it offers Android 4.0, Ice Cream Sandwich, right out of the box, and it has a custom built keyboard attachment.

The keyboard not only adds the functionality of having a physical keyboard, but it also bumps the battery life up to 20 hours.  There is no official release date yet, and no official price either.  I personally love Android tablets with keyboard docks.  I feel that the form factor gives these products a selling point that the Apple iPad lacks.  More importantly than the keyboard dock the IdeaTab S2 better come in at an aggressive price point to not only compete with the iPad, but also with the higher speced Asus Transformer Prime.

First, and most official, Spring announced today that it will launch it's very own LTE network in mid 2012.  The first markets to get Sprint's LTE will be: Atlanta, Dallas, San Antonio, and Houston.  There is no exact date yet, so mid-2012 is a pretty wide window.

Rumor: Google making 7inch tablet to rival the Kindle Fire

This rumor is pretty out there, but it's one that excites me.  It is being reported that Google might be trying to make a 7 inch tablet that would match or beat the Kindle Fire's $199 price tag.  The rumors are saying that the tablet could be released as early as April.
